SAT/ACT

How do I register for the SAT/ACT?

Create an account at www.collegeboard.org/sat or www.actstudent.orgPlease note that it's important to register at least two months in advance in order to secure a spot at a convenient testing location.

When should I take the SAT/ACT?

We recommend that students take the SAT and/or ACT in the spring of their junior year. Then, again in the fall of their senior year. The latest date for a senior to take a test for an early action or early decision deadline is October. The latest date for a senior to take a test for the regular decision deadline is December.

Do I need to take the SAT/ACT with Essay?

You do not need to take the essay portion of the tests. Very few schools require the essay.

Should I take an SAT Subject Test?

SAT Subject Tests are no longer being administered. Colleges will no longer use subject tests as part of their evaluations.

How do I get a fee waiver?

Fee waivers are available for all Bodine students. Please reach out to your counselor for a code.

How do I submit test scores to colleges?

If you decide to submit test scores, you must send your score report(s) through College Board or ACT. Keep in mind that some schools will see all of your scores, while others will allow you to choose which scores you want to send. This is why we suggest that students only take these tests when they're ready and prepared.

Do I have to submit test scores?

It depends. Many colleges are test-optional, meaning that they don't require test scores. You will not be disadvantaged in any way if you don't submit test scores; rather, colleges will put more weight on your GPA, curriculum, recommendation letters, essay, and activities. You can find a list of test-optional schools here. Please meet with us if you're unsure if you should send scores or not.
