Financial Aid

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Available after Oct. 1). The FAFSA is a form that must be completed each year to determine eligibility for financial aid. Important notes about the FAFSA:

  • Students and parents must create an FSA ID in order to sign and submit the FAFSA

  • All students who identify as male must register for selective service in order to receive federal aid

  • Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool so your parents' financial information will be imported directly

PHEAA - Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. PHEAA provides funding in the form of grants to residents of Pennsylvania who plan to stay in PA for their higher education. For those who want to attend school out of state, grants can only be transferred to the following states: Delaware, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Vermont, and West Virginia. Students must create an account and provide financial information, much like the FAFSA, to determine their eligibility. PHEAA only allows one school to be listed at a time. You may list your top choice school when you apply, and you have until May 1 to update it.

CSS Profile - Required for a handful of private colleges (see list here). The CSS Profile is a more in-depth financial aid form required by many selective, private colleges and universities. This will determine if you are eligible for institutional grants and scholarships.

Federal Student Aid - Once you have deposited at your school, you must complete your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling in order to receive your federal loans.

Edmit - Edmit is a free resource we have partnered with for students to understand financial aid more clearly. Once you create an account, you can research colleges and see an estimate of what you might have to pay based on the financial information provided.

Net Price Calculators - This free tool provides students and families with an estimate of what they will pay in tuition. Every college and university is required to have a Net Price Calculator on their website. If you cannot find a school's NPC, simply Google "school name" and "net price calculator."
